The same trait cluster on a female face — where women's brows sit ~2.5 mm higher and eye openings ~0.7 mm narrower than men's on average, canthal tilt is steeper in some populations and not others, and raters favour positive tilt and low lid exposure but not narrowness or a heavy brow. Full entry →
Canthal tilt
The angle of the line from the inner corner of the eye (medial canthus) to the outer corner (lateral canthus), measured against horizontal; positive when the outer corner sits higher. Full entry →
Negative canthal tilt
A canthal tilt in which the outer corner of the eye sits lower than the inner corner. Full entry →
Orbital vector
The front-to-back relationship between the front surface of the eyeball and the infraorbital rim; positive when the bone sits ahead of the cornea, negative when it sits behind. Full entry →
Midface and proportions
Facial thirds
The division of the face into three vertical sections — hairline to brow, brow to nose base, nose base to chin — which are roughly equal in a balanced face. Full entry →
Facial symmetry
The degree to which the left and right halves of the face mirror each other; it matters for attractiveness, but far less than forums suggest, and perfect symmetry is neither real nor necessary. Full entry →
Golden ratio face

Facial width-to-height ratio (fWHR) and bizygomatic width
Bizygomatic width is the cheekbone-to-cheekbone distance between the two zygion points; fWHR divides it by upper-face height. Its claimed links to behaviour have largely failed replication. Full entry →
Buccal fat pad
A deep, encapsulated lobe of fat in the cheek between the buccinator and masseter muscles, about 9–10 mL per side; it descends and changes with age. Full entry →
